In the winter, when there is no work in the fields and therefore no money, there is often little food. Hunger is a big problem.
However Pastor Florin Boruga has led the congregation of Betinia Baptist Church in Sighashora, Romania to start mission churches
in five Gypsy villages. Betinia Baptist is so committed to their mission work among the Gypsies that they have designated a full 20%
of the church's annual budget for this outreach
A major element of the mission churches outreach is the "Bread Baking Project". In two of the five villages the churches have
constructed large stone ovens in which they bake large quantities of bread during the winter months. The members of the churches
then go on visitation in the homes and present loaves of bread as gifts to the hungry families of the village.
Not only is this a wonderful act of compassion on the part of the church, but it has also proven to be a great method of outreach.
Many Gypsies have been won to Christ and entire families drawn into the churches. Bread for the body resulted in bread for the soul.
The bread of dough is used to introduce them to the Bread of Life.
Through generous gifts from friends like you CERT International helps to fund the Bread Baking Project. Each of the five churches
needs $80 per week to bake enough bread to reach the hungry families of their village. Stone ovens need to be constructed in the three
villages that don't have one yet. Each oven will cost $2000 to construct.
If the Lord is leading you to assist with this project, either with the purchase of ingredients or to donate towards the cost of a
new oven, please go to the CERT Home Page and click on the "Donate Now" button.
Bread for the body, Bread for the soul - you can help to provide both for starving Gypsies in Central Romania.
