Mission Trips - Frequently Asked Questions
CERT International - Mission Trips

Do you only take medical professionals on mission trips?
Our trips are open to both medical professionals and lay people. Our only requirements for participation on our teams are flexibility and a servant’s heart.

Are there any areas a lay person cannot go?
One of the areas we work is limited to medical professionals due to remote location and government restrictions in the country.

How long are most mission trips?
The majority of the mission trips are 10 to 14 days. We are able to arrange some long-term assignments for certain specialty medical professionals.

How would my mission trip be funded?
All of our team members are volunteers and are responsible to raise their own funds.

How can I raise the funds?
Some of the most common ways you can raise funds for your trip are through your church, family, and friends. You can also hold bake sales, car washes, and other innovative means.

How much will an average mission trip cost me?
The costs for expenses are from $550 to $1000 for the 10 day trips depending on location, and $1300 for the 14 day trips. You will then need to add in your roundtrip airfare to arrive at the total cost for the trip. Naturally the further the distance to the country of mission the higher the cost. Most notably would be missions to Africa or Asia.

What is included in the expense portion of the trip?
The price will be all-inclusive, ground transportation plus all meals and lodging. This also includes a Travel Insurance Policy. The only thing not included is if you want to buy some souvenirs.

Is CERT International affiliated with any certain denomination?
CERT International is a cross denominational organization and we work with people from most denominational backgrounds.

Will I be expected to engage in evangelistic activities?
CERT International is unapologetically evangelistic and we believe very strongly in presenting the Gospel in both word and actions. However we would never ask anyone on the team to do anything they would feel uncomfortable with. We do expect every team member to participate in the team meetings while in the field. These meetings would include team briefings, sharing of the day’s events and a time of prayer. Again we would never single anyone out to pray or do anything they would feel uncomfortable doing.

How will I know what to expect on a trip and what to pack?
When you have decided on a mission trip and have sent your deposit for securing your airline tickets, you will be sent an extensive briefing manual for the country to which you will be traveling.

Will I need travel insurance?
A Travel Insurance Policy is included as part of your expense cost.

What is the first step I need to take to go on a CERT mission trip?
Look over our current team calendars and then download our team application, fill it out and send it to CERT’s mailing address, or just simply call us at 1-888-299-8502.
